Use Google Tag Manager for your remarketing campaign
Do you need to run your remarketing campaign using Google Ads? Google Ads is the most commonly chosen platform to publish paid ads and increase conversions. To run advertisements more effectively and achieve the best outcome, you can use Google Tag Manager. However, you should learn the way to set up tags to get the optimal benefit from the campaign. Let us provide you with a guide on how to use Tag Manager.
Google Tag Manager- How does this tool work
Tags for Google remarketing programs enable you to create a list and place the tag across different website pages. After inserting the tag, you may launch the campaign in your Google Ads account. GTM lets you identify user behaviors on apps and websites. User actions are referred to as triggers, and you need to define them to alert the tool to capture data.
For instance, when a user opens a webpage and hits a button, it will trigger the Tag Manager to track data and deliver it to your Google Analytics interface. You cannot replace Analytics with Tag Manager. GTM is best for adding the tracking code to your site and implementing event code snippets.
How do you set up GTM for remarketing campaigns?
Google Tag setup for remarketing campaigns involves a systematic process. By adding the relevant remarketing tag, you can target the right person who has interacted with your site. You can now check the steps for setting up the tool.
Register with GTM
Your first step is to create a GTM account and visit the configuration page. For account creation, you have to provide some details like your business name, your website URL, and your company’s location. Click the Create button to activate the account.
After going through the registration process, you will receive a series of codes. GTM will also give you instructions on installing them. WordPress users can use plugins for code installation. There are alternative processes available for other Content Management Systems. It is better to talk to developers to manage your site efficiently.
Although you do not like to install codes, they will be present in your dashboard. You may place them at any time.
Check the installation
After installing the codes, you have to ensure the proper functioning of the tags. Using the GTM dashboard, you need to hit the Preview option. It will open a new window where you have to enter your website URL. The URL you have chosen will open in another tab. However, you will find a window that displays tags getting fired. It also displays potential errors. While navigating through the site, you will notice the updated information in the window.
Remarketing tag setup guide- Find comprehensive information
It is one of the challenging processes for GTM users. With rules and triggers, you can refine the tag. However, you can remove your confusion by understanding the remarketing tag setup process.
Create the source of your audience
Access the dashboard of the Google Ads account and go to the Shared Library option for Audience Manager. Choose Audience Sources in another window. You might have generated a tag; you would find the option for selecting Details.
In some cases, you may not notice this option. So, you should add the tag. Choose the Set Up Tag from the Ads tag box. There are 2 options available, and to create general advertisements, you can click the option- Only Collect Website Visit Information.
You can select the Collect Data options to run your tailored remarketing programs. Identify the type of business and hit the option- Save and Continue. Then, in another window, you need to select Google Tag Manager. You will receive a Conversion ID. Save the copy of the ID because you will be using it in the GTM within a short time.
Hit the Continue option and hit the Done button
There is an option for creating the source of an audience with Analytics. You must integrate your Google Ads count with Analytics. You will find valuable data from Analytics. It will make the tags more efficient and provide the audience list.
Hit the Details option from the menu- Link to Analytics. Select the analytics property where you can connect your advertising account.
Inserting a new tag
From the GTM dashboard, you have to choose Add New Tag. You can select an easily identifiable name and learn about the function of the tag. But the name must be concise, and you can then hit the Tag Configuration button.
There is a menu with different options and click on the Ads Remarketing tag. Find the space to insert the Conversion ID. You can then add triggers by clicking on the Triggering section. Click on the Save option and finish the process. These modifications will not be final until you have pressed the Submit option. Now, test the setup to ensure that it is working properly.
Analyze the remarketing tag
Before running your marketing campaign, you have to ensure the proper functioning of the tag. You can do it from the Ads account. Access the dashboard and select tools from the window. Hit the Audience Manager and press the Details option.
It lets you check the remarketing tag and find how it is performing. Access the code of the tag and learn about the implementation process.
Errors while using the GTM tool
In some cases, the tag shows an error message due to different reasons. You should know that your audience list should include not less than 100 users. However, your list may already have 100 users. In this scenario, the issue is related to targeting. You have removed several users, and the list has become small for your tag. An inactive tag is another reason for finding an error message. Tags that have not received signals for a week may cause errors.
